2. Chrono Trigger

While the US may have missed out on Seiken Densetsu 3, Squaresoft more than made up for it with Chrono Trigger. While most RPGs bog themselves down with needlessly long storylines and pointless mini-games, Chrono Trigger takes a different approach. It pulls you in and doesn't let go until it's highly charged, fast-paced, story comes to a close. Clocking in at just over 10 hours, Chrono Trigger is the kind of no nonsense RPG the gaming community needs more of. Battles take place on the same board as the rest of the game, and none of them are random. Players can see and avoid many of the game's fights long before they start. With it's delightful cast of characters and intelligent storyline, it's no wonder Chrono Trigger is still the single most sought after Super Nintendo game, selling at prices upwards of $100 per cartridge.
