Namco Bandai announces PowerUp Forever

No doubt trying to cash in on the success of freeware PC shooter Warning Forever, Namco has announced their upcoming endless survival shooter PowerUp Forever, to be released on XBLA and PSN at an undisclosed point in the future.

Like Warning Forever (no relation) and Xbox Live Aracade shooter Geometry Wars, PowerUp Forver challenges players to stay alive as long as possible and best their high score rather than overcome a series of predefined challenges. Players can destroy enemy ships to grow larger and more powerful, but in doing so their enemies will also increase in size and power.

Naming similarities aside, PowerUp Forever should prove a worthwhile diversion for anyone who enjoys more Robotron: 2084 than Gradius in their shooters.
