If DS=Double Screen, Nintendo needs some new talent
I won’t pass judgement until I see what the thing can do at E3. After all, it’s all about the games, right? Right?
What a stupid idea.

It sounds like the games are going to pretty much be the same thing, just with two screens.
Looks like we are going to get screwed again! FUN FUN FUN.

Imagine the possibilities! We could be looking at the front of something while AT THE SAME TIME looking at the back of something!
…
Why don’t they just make one big screen with higher quality?

Double the screens, double the fun!
Why should PC users be the only ones to have dual monitors action!?

Nintendo is so going the way of Sega.

I think double posting is a bannable offense.

It’s the Virtual Boy all over again. I’m sure there will be some interesting first part support for the DS, but I don’t see many third party developers embracing something so painfully gimmicky. It seems just like GameCube-Game Boy connectivity, something Nintendo claims is the future of gaming, capable of producing new, exciting experiences, when ultimately it’s nothing more than a simple gimmick blown out of proportion. Honestly, there’s nothing you can do with two screens that you cannot do with one.

Not neccessarily, The virtual boy sucked so bad it even caused pain in the form of headaches for consumers unlucky to have played one.
I have to agree with double screens being too gimmicky. The benefit of having double screens is multitasking. But in videogames, that’s pointless because my attention will be where the action is and I don’t want to be distracted.
The only other reason is if Nintendo wants to get it’s elbows in the cellphone/PDA department, but that’s so not like nintendo.

There’s really no point to this thing. Close up on action in a sports game? Just utilize a split-screen! A second screen for an RPG’s menu? Well, unless there are two seperate control pads, you’ll still have to fucking pause the thing to access it.
Personally, I think Nintendo has secretly gone bankrupt and just wants to go out in style. Some sort of bizarre, ultra fucked-up Japanese style, but style nonetheless.
